From UIQ 3 to S60: Part 3

If you’re like me, things usually pop up your mind when you’re not at a place and time to do them. It happens to me all the time - call someone, make a booking, pay a bill, check something or visit somewhere like a bank etc. In a lot of cases, they aren’t urgent but little things that fit between activities.

Todos on UIQ 3

On the G700, I used Tasks to keep my list of todos. But I found it doesn’t suit my use as much because it’s separate from calendar. Todos are part of my schedule and to be able to plan my week properly, I’d like to know and be able to see them on my calendar. I discovered that using memos to schedule todos work for me since I like to put them in a timeslot for intended completion. If it doesn’t work out, then I move it to the next available opportunity or I’ll forget it. And I can see them in relation to my other activities. The downside to this approach is that I can’t see all my todos at a glance. But that doesn’t bother me too much, since I’ve discovered that without access from the calendar, my task list won’t get used anyway.

Todos on S60

When I went to the E71, I was happy that the todo entries are now inside the calendar. So I enthusiastically put in a list of things on the days I’d like to complete them. My enthusiasm was dented when I found that none of the calendar views except the todo view would show any details if I have more than 1 todo on a day. It just tells me the number of todos pending for the day instead. It’s good to know that I’ve got todo items on a particular day, but it’d be even better if I could actually see what they are without having to switch away from the calendar view. Since the month view’s already showing a list of activities, it’d be great if the list of todos is also displayed in all the calendar views like in DreamLife and some other scheduling solutions.
