How do I purchase DreamConnect?
Go to the Purchase DreamConnect section of the website. There are detailed step-by-step instructions to guide you in purchasing DreamConnect.
What kind of payment do you accept?
We only accept credit card payments from Mastercard, Visa and Bankcard.
What currency will my credit card be charged?
The price of DreamConnect is listed in US dollars. However, you will be charged for the equivalent of that in Australian dollars, based on the exchange rate on the day of purchase.
Can I try the product before I buy?
Yes, there is a trial version of DreamConnect available for download on the website.
I've tried DreamConnect and want to purchase it. What do I do now?
Go through the normal process on the website to purchase the product. When your purchase is confirmed, an installation key will be issued to you. You can choose to download the product again, or simply enter the installation key details into the trial version. Once the details are entered, the trial version will be converted into a working version with all restrictions removed.
The installation key details don't work. What should I do?
Check that you have entered the details correctly. For example, spaces inappropriately inserted, hyphen (-) versus underscore (_) or numeral 0 versus letter o. If the installation key details still don't work, fill in our support/enquiries form and we'll get back to you quickly.
How do I get DreamConnect to use my own contact database? How do I import my database?
You have to purchase DreamConnect and enter the installation key details. DreamConnect will then use your existing Contacts database. There is no need to reenter or import your contacts. Any changes you make in your standard Contacts application will be shown in DreamConnect.
Why can't I edit personal, work, any and none categories?
These are default categories that come with the application and can't be changed.
What do I do if I find a bug/problem in DreamConnect?
You can fill in the support/enquiries form with the details and we'll investigate it.
How come zoom doesn't work?
This feature was previously not available in the earlier versions of DreamConnect. Download the upgrade to obtain zoom capabilities.
Can I search for numbers with the find function?
Yes, the Smart Find function allows customisable searches of any field and is available in the current upgrade.
How big is DreamConnect?
DreamConnect is designed to take the minimum space on your machine saving you memory. The installation file is currently 288KB, including online help.
The extra addresses I add appear out of place. How do I fix this?
This is a problem with the standard Contacts database, and will be fixed and released as part of an upgrade soon. In the meantime, to be rid of this problem, enter details or simply insert a space in the empty fields of the the previous address block to prevent details from the new block shifting up.
DreamConnect doesn't seem to run on my device.
If you have not already done so, download the upgrade, which fixes a database problem that DreamConnect could not read previously. If you have purchased DreamConnect before the upgrade and had problems with the previous version of DreamConnect, you will have to delete the dreamspring.ini file (located at System\Apps\DreamConnect folder). Delete this file either before or after installation, before you run DreamConnect.
Can DreamConnect sync with my Outlook contacts?
DreamConnect uses your existing Contacts database. So long as your contacts are synced with Outlook, DreamConnect will also work with Outlook. However, since the original Contacts database does not have Categories, DreamConnect's Categories can not be synced. We will work on this issue later.
Why are my (nonstandard) labels in a funny order in DreamConnect's card display and edit windows?
The Contacts application (and DreamConnect), have a predefined set of fields (like a database schema), which is basically designed to work with vCards, the cross-platform standard for contacts information.
The standard EPOC Contacts program allows you to move these fields around in a limited way, and even rename them. The fields still mean the same thing though, and still map to the same information in a vCard or PC program.
So if you use Contacts' Set up labels feature to redefine the fields in all sorts of ways, you will get a nasty surprise when you sync or beam your contacts to another machine.
This design defect was fixed with ER6 versions of Contacts (as found on Nokia 9210 and 7650), which allow you to "extend" the labels of fields, rather than totally rename them.
DreamConnect doesn't allow you to rename the labels since there is no point, the meaning won't change, and DreamConnect uses its knowledge of the meaning of the fields to format the contacts cards and edit window in a meaningful way.
If you have co-opted any fields for different uses in Contacts, you may therefore find DreamConnect's display rather strange. We have no way to change this behavior, but we may add a "namable" Notes field to provide a correct version of the functionality that Contacts pretends to offer, if there is sufficient user demand.
Why doesn't Outlook import categories from my DreamConnect exported vCard file?
Unfortunately, most vendors don't take interoperability very seriously. Neither Palm nor Microsoft applications support vCard very well (no categories, only one set of address details for home and work, only one note), and attempt to compensate with all sorts of proprietary import/export/sync methods. Apart from the very expensive option of writing specific conversion utilities for each application, there's not much we can do at this point.
